Preview of Celina’s annual summer work session
By Matthew Price
The annual summer work session for the Celina City Council will be held this weekend at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Frisco.
Attendees at this special meeting will include the Celina City Council, Mayor Corbett Howard, City Manager Jason Gray, and any members of the public who wish to attend. The meetings are scheduled for Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. to completion.
“If you want to see your council, mayor, and city manager at work, you’re invited to attend,” said Howard. “We encourage anybody to come who wants to take the time.”
“Regular Council meetings have certain business of the city that needs to be acted upon, and they don’t allow for this type of focused thinking and brainstorming,” Gray said. He said visiting public could expect to gain a better understanding of the challenges and opportunities that Celina will face in the future.
In accordance with state law, certain matters will be discussed in closed, executive session. The mayor said they have planned for this portion of the meeting to take place during the lunch break so more time can be dedicated to discussions in open session.
The June 8 and 9 summer work session will take place in the Stonebriar Room at the Hampton Inn in Frisco, located at 3199 Parkwood Boulevard. The next regular meeting of the Celina City Council will be at Celina City Hall this coming Monday, June 11, beginning with a work session at the usual time of 4:30 p.m., and the public hearing and regular meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.
