Dallas, Tx -- As a community service in honor of September’s National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month, substance abuse treatment center, Caron Texas, is sponsoring a complimentary Caron Cares breakfast lecture series. Beginning Sept. 2, four Thursday events in September will be hosted at The Point, Center for Arts and Education located on the campus of C. C. Young, 4847 West Lawther Drive in Dallas. The free events are open to the public with advance reservations required, as space is limited.
“Outreach is an important part of our philosophy at Caron Texas,” said Dr. Ann Miller, Caron Texas executive director and regional vice president. “By educating people, we can empower as many patients and families as possible to get the help they need to lead healthy, productive lives in recovery. We’re grateful to the folks at C.C. Young for presenting this September lecture series in honor of National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month.”
Caron Texas is part of the Caron Treatment Centers network, an internationally recognized non-profit provider of alcohol and drug addiction treatment. Now open in Dallas, Caron Texas serves adult men and women and their families on a 40-acre serene and secluded campus in Collin County. Each one of the September panels will include a Caron Texas spokesperson as well as other addiction-related panelists from the Dallas community.
On Thursday, Sept. 16, “How Much Is Too Much? Recognizing Alcoholism & Addiction in your Adult Children and Grandchildren: How You Can Help” features a panel including Dr. Don Benton, Dr. Kevin Gilliland, clinical director of Innovation 360; and Dr. Ann Miller.
The Thursday, Sept. 23 panel of Dink Benton; Charlie Keen, retired Reverend at Grace Episcopal Church; parent of an adult child in recovery and local businessman, Karl Kuby; and John Talmadge, M.D., Caron Texas medical director, will tackle the topic of “Sustaining Faith & Sustaining Sobriety: Practical Steps.”
The series concludes on Thursday, Sept. 30, “After Rehab: Living in Sobriety” with a discussion by Kevin Gilliland; Steven Kelly; Susan Keene, mother of three and in recovery since July 2004 for alcohol and amphetamine abuse; Lisa Kroenke, mother of four and in recovery since 2007; and single mom, Claudie Kuby, in recovery for the past 18 months.
In addition to its new center in Texas, Caron offers a continuum of care, operating residential treatment centers in Wernersville, PA, and Boca Raton, FL with regional offices in Philadelphia, New York City, Washington, D.C., and Bermuda. Caron has more clinical programs to meet the specific needs of each patient, regardless of their age, gender, or severity of their addiction than any other family of treatment centers in the United States. Caron’s mission is to provide an enlightened and caring treatment community in which those affected by the disease of alcoholism or other drug addiction may begin a new life.
