Golf: Marcus product Weisheit earns All-GAC First Team Golf award
From staff reports
East Central University senior and Marcus product Jeff Weisheit was named to the All-Great American Conference Golf First Team while teammate Dakota Robbins was an honorable mention selection.
Weisheit placed fourth at the GAC Championships on Tuesday after finishing 8-over-par for the three-round tournament in Hot Springs, Ark. Weisheit, who held the first-round lead, fired a 2-under 70 on the opening day before recording a 77 each in the final two rounds at the par-72 Hot Springs Country Club.
Weisheit placed in the top 10 of four other tournaments during the 2011-12 fall and spring seasons, including a fourth-place tie at Arkansas Tech this spring, a ninth-place effort at Texas A&M-Commerce this spring, a third-place tie at Arkansas-Monticello in the fall and a tie for seventh place at Northeastern State last fall.
Robbins, a junior from Wichita Falls, won the two-round Arkansas Tech Tournament in a three-way playoff on March 27th as he finished at 2-under in regulation with a 3-under 69 in the first round and a 1-over 73 in the second. He had a 23rd-place finish at the GAC Championships and also placed 21st at the Midwestern State Tournament earlier this spring.
